https://claraaramburo.com/Mix-Media-1 Mix media work The Landreaming capacity 2023 Mix media instalation&nbsp; Clay Wood carving Acrilic painting « The Land-Dreaming Capacity », is an installation that represents the culmination of a long process which began with my desire to make a Comal moulded out of clay in order to make tortillas in the Netherlands as a refuge from home sickness. This endeavour led me on a journey of connec)on and nostalgia with the land and soil that shaped me and what it means to be far away from it. In this exploration, I have come to see my body as an extension of the land itself. The land passes through me, I digest it, hold it and carry it. I embody those landscapes, celebrating a sense of belonging. At the same time, through trial and error, I realised that even though the Comal is a strong symbol in Mexican cooking, I was not part of a lineage of generational knowledge of people who make this cooking utensil as a tradition. This realisa)on confronted me with profound questions about culture and its deeper meaning. Who does it belong to? Who can replicate it? Particularly in the context of Mexico's rich cultural diversity, where numerous indigenous groups reside, does the term 'Mexican culture' truly encapsulate the land and its multiplicity? And ultimately, what does it mean to be Mexican?
